One sure fire way to boost confidence is knowing that you were able to accomplish something. May it be at work, school or home, completing a task no matter how minute or monumental it is brings about a sense of pride and control with oneself. And keeping a journal will enable you to have a proof of that achievement making other tasks as reachable as the previous ones.
This had worked for me since kindergarden. During those times, homeworks were listed in one notebook to be signed by my parents just to ensure that I will be properly guided. I adopted this practice through college and just recently about a year ago in my current profession.
I believe that this will greatly improve the way I go through with life. For the past few months, I felt inadequate as an educator and as a person. It feels like my students are not getting the guidance they deserve. So I started writing everything again. Sure I have a syllabus that I follow but not every single lesson and activity are finished within the day. And instead of worrying about being behind or advance, I'll try to focus more on what were the successes of the day and any improvements that could have been done for a more productive experience.
I want to start incorporating this practice to my daily life as well. So starting today. I would like to state the highlights of my day - accomplishments and areas for improvements. That way, I will have something to look forward to day after day.
I deeply encourage everyone to practice doing lists and make it a hard habit to break.
